Rude Awakening

It would be a lot easier to get through the day if people were nicer.

I got on the train from Riverside to Hynes Convention Center this morning (way before I am normally awake). I sat my bags next me to and opened a book. Next thing I knew an elderly woman with an attitude problem got on the train and before I even had a chance to look up from my book she said, "You need to move this, I need a seat more than your bag does."

I don't recall ever telling her that my bag needed to sit more than she did. But I would have felt better about moving it if she didn't yell at me. So I picked up my bags and tried to finagle them on my lap. It was uncomfortable because my bags piled up to my face at that point. And as I have trouble being around people that are outright rude, grabbed my things and relocated to the back of the car.

I don't care how old I live to be. I am going to try to keep in mind that strangers don't respond well to rude remarks, especially when there are perfectly fine ways to address other people. I was thinking something more like, "Excuse me, I would like to sit here. Could you please move your bags?" would have been just as easy.
